Itinerary
You will be picked from your Nairobi hotel or airport by our driver. Immediately, depart for Samburu National Reserve passing through the equator line to Samburu land. Arrive with a short game drive en route to the lodge/camp for lunch. After lunch, relax before a game drive at 4pm. Dinner and overnight at your Lodge/Camp.
On this day you shall have a morning and afternoon shared game drives in Samburu National Reserve. Samburu is home to many uncommon species such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx and the long-necked gerenuk antelope to name just a few. There are also many lions, cheetahs and leopards to spot as well as huge crocodiles in the rivers. Dinner and overnight at your Lodge/Camp.
Following breakfast, check out and depart from Samburu for Aberdare, arriving in time for lunch. Rest of the afternoon remains at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the Aberdare Country Club, nestled on a slope of Mweiga Hill in the Aberdare Highlands, part of the Great Rift Valley. This captivating site was the homestead of an English couple that decided to settle in Kenya. Almost half a century later, their home, “The Steep”, was renamed the Aberdare Country Club and opened for guests. Considered a heritage property in Kenya, The Aberdare Country Club has retained the charm of a private home with the simple comforts of a country inn.
Have breakfast then depart for Lake Nakuru arriving before lunch time. Check in at your Lodge/Camp and lunch will follow. Afterwards you will head for an afternoon game drive inside Lake Nakuru National Park also known as the Pink Lake, due to its horde of flamingos. You will also spot the famous white rhino and black rhino as well as lions, leopards, Egyptian geese, waterbucks, giraffes, hyenas, buffalos, baboons, vervet monkeys, and gazelles. Head back to Lodge/Camp after the game drive for dinner.
Today’s drive starts after your breakfast, to the Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Check in, relax as you prepare for an afternoon game drive at 3pm. You will spend two nights in this natural paradise among lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, antelope and gazelle. There is a good chance of spotting a cheetah and if you are lucky, the shy leopard. You will arrive at your camp in time for a late lunch. After lunch enjoy a short rest before departing on your afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge in time for dinner. You spend the next couple of days enjoying private game drives with your own driver-guide in the Masai Mara looking for the big five and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight at your Lodge/Camp.
After breakfast, go on a full-day game drive with your packed picnic lunch. You have the opportunity to see the spectacular migration of wildebeest during the peak season from July to October, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. The Maasai Mara is the best park in Kenya to view animals including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and much more. After the game drive you have a chance to experience the Maasai culture by visiting a Maasai Village (at an additional cost of $30 per person).
